“Interna Collection started an interesting project that I had
the pleasure of taking part in. It was a challenge for me to design a collection
of about 40 different objects for hotels instead of a single chair or a
table. My aim was to design playful, simple, functional objects that are
in stark
contrast to the often nostalgic world of international high class hotels.
The base for the different types of objects are simple constructions mostly
in wood, accentuated with a few other materials
as glass and stone. Thanks to the cooperation with Interna we developed
intelligent solutions for simple constructions.”
Uwe Fischer was born in 1958. He studied Industrial Design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach, Germany. In 1985, together with Klaus-Achim Heine, he founded “Ginbande Design” developing, over the decade between 1985 and 1995, a series of experimental designs. In 1993 he opened his studio in Frankfurt, more workshop than company providing a service. This philosophy is evident in his accomplished designs such as the ones for the Frankfurt airport and Frankfurt Exhibition Centre, or for the exhibition halls on the summit of Germany’s most famous mountain, the Zugspitze. Fischer has also designed important art shows in various museums in Germany. Since 1993 he has been a lecturer in the Architecture and Design Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, and since 2001 he has been Professor in the Industrial Design Department at the Academy of Fine Arts of in Stuttgart. His clients include Authentics, B&B Italia and Vitra.
